Sea To Sky Rail

Exploring the Future of Regional Mobility

Sea to Sky Rail is a regional concept exploring the potential restoration of modern passenger rail services between North Vancouver and the communities of the Sea to Sky corridor. The initiative seeks to enhance mobility reliability, safety, and sustainability while strengthening economic and tourism opportunities throughout the Sea to Sky region.

With renewed public interest in reliable, climate-smart regional transportation options, discussions have emerged among municipalities, First Nations, and provincial stakeholders about the potential to reintroduce passenger rail through the Sea to Sky corridor. The concept reflects the growing recognition of rail as an essential part of a balanced, multi-modal transportation future for British Columbia as a province and Canada as a nation.

Island Rail Corporation (IRC) brings extensive experience in rail operations, infrastructure planning, and community partnership development. IRC has participated in preliminary discussions with regional partners to explore how rail can once again serve as a safe, reliable, sustainable, and economically beneficial mode of travel between the coast, the mountains, and the interior of BC.

As with all such initiatives, future progress will depend on collaboration among multiple stakeholders, including provincial, federal, municipal, Indigenous, and industry partners.

Sea to Sky Rail represents an opportunity to deliver safer, more dependable transportation for residents, workers, and visitors in the Sea to Sky region while supporting British Columbia’s climate and economic goals.

IRC welcomes dialogue with regional and provincial stakeholders interested in exploring the future of rail mobility in BC.
